A couple of the great men out there are my bronze polisher and his brother @bubuvillagrana. They work incredibly hard every day doing dangerous and painstaking work. (Another polisher I’ve worked with lost his arm while polishing a car fender.) These guys start at 4am in downtown Los Angeles to avoid the heat. It’s a family business - their father opened the shop. Isauro started working in the shop right after high school, foregoing his other plans, because his girlfriend got pregnant and he had to support his new family. He’s been working hard there ever since.
Which leads me to this new tray in my collection of trays! The original was created in ceramic by the son of my polisher, both named Isauro Villagrana. @isauro.villagrana Isauro made this cool tray in a college ceramics class at Cal Poly as a bisexual Latin artist. When his dad saw the tray, he knew it would be something I would like, and that it would be amazing in bronze. Each tray is numbered in an open edition. As of writing #5 in the edition is next up. The Isauro family will receive a portion of sales, not just for all the polishing work, but also a design fee for Isauro Junior! Pictured is Isauro Senior!
