If you’ve been following the stubby pencils you will probably be greatly bummed to see that the price went from $45 or $50 to $140. I realized that I was actually charging less than I was paying my foundry to cast them and my polishers to polish them. They are extremely difficult to polish… imagine a spinning wheel and a tiny sharp object that often goes flying off. I genuinely feel bad asking them to make them for me. And unfortunately I can’t offer the pencils as a loss leader like a Costco hotdog or rotisserie chicken.

This current crop of stubby pencils is running about 2 ½ inches and I have a full-size one I need to post. They are great box openers! But also a choking hazard! Keep away from pets and children! I think I need to require a “concealed bronze pencil permit” to obtain this piece. In fact, I’m not even sure I want to keep making them because they’re so pointy and sharp and bite-size! Unlike the gun industry, I don’t want anyone to get hurt.
